When I first saw this pair of books I immediately thought: "Gorgeous design -- almost gothic"! Then I saw the delicately striped tie ribbons and thought: "Ribbons instead of a lock to keep the pages closed! How unusual!" Anyway, to cut a long (and rather dull) story short, I decided there was something enchantingly Victorian about this pair of flock-bound books. And, I knew at once that our discerning Pressies' customers would love them.
What makes them special?
Well, obviously the journal and notebook are both beautifully bound and very pretty. But one of the best things about these books is the fact that they contain unlined pages. In the old days books like these were used for jotting down odd thoughts and recipes, creating watercolours and sketches, keeping photographs, pressing flowers -- things like that. Nasty old lines restrict you and make you feel the need to fill them, but blank pages let the imagination run wild.
