Felicity Gail Handcrafted Jewellery was shortlisted by the judges on the strength of the uniqueness of their jewellery designs. With so much jewellery entered into the competition, the judges were really looking for something they hadn't seen before. The sculptural quality of this necklace particularly impressed them with its flowing lines and strong shapes. Through this and their other work, it is apparent that artists Brenner and Durrans have established a style of their own that is both bold and very wearable.
Felicity Gail is the brandname for the work of Debbie Brenner and Jackie Durrans. They make contemporary jewellery inspired by Modern Art and design.
This necklace is made from sterling silver, black onyx and jade and was inspired by the work of sculpter Alexander Calder. Just as Calder's curved sections appear to shift when viewed from different perspectives, this necklace captures that sense of surprise as it changes shape every time it is worn. It contains rich contrasts in colour and texture while maintaining a balance of movement. This elegant design is flattering to women of all ages and works well both with casual or more formal outfits.
