Inexpensive / Cheap Gift Guide
by Becca
I cannot advocate buying a cheap gift, unless you really cannot afford anything more expensive. No one likes a cheapskate!
Still, even if you are on a budget, your gift does not have to look cheap.
There are loads of inexpensive handmade or unusual items on the web that, whilst making cheap gifts, are not easy for her to value.
Be sure to avoid the high street or stuff that she is likely to see on the Net.
There's nothing worse for a girl than finding out just how much you're worth, from the price tag of a gift you spot at a local store.
It's not so bad if it's reassuringly expensive, but spotting a cheap gift you just received, ends up making you feel equally cheap!
If you don't want to look cheap, be sure to avoid the High Street when looking for an inexpensive gift.
The thing is, with a little effort and imagination, that needn't happen --
it's more down to laziness than a lack of cash.
Your cheap gift needn't look cheap if you shop around for something unusual and put an extra effort into how you wrap it.
Here’s our checklist of how to make the best of a low gift budget...
Like I said already, you don't want her to find out the price that easily!
Also, it shows more effort than if you wandered down the local high street with your cash.
In my opinion, you're better off looking on the Net -- you would be surprised how far you can make just £15 stretch.
Handmade jewellery is surprisingly good value these days.
Silver is remarkably cheap and you can buy designs on the Net that she'll never come across on the High Street.
See our handpicked selection of jewellery gifts for some examples.
Little Treats -- you know those little nik naks that you don't really need, which you would never buy yourself -- make good inexpensive gifts. We've dozens of them listed in our gift selection. They start from under ten pounds.
Gadgets and gizmos. Be careful here because you are buying a gift for her and not for you.
In amongst all the boyish stuff there are some girly gifts and they are not necessarily all expensive.

No matter how much you're spending, a gift that shows you really know her is going to delight her.
You can spend a fortune on something totally inappropriate and not score any favours.
Conversely, you can spend very little on an inexpensive gift that is just so right for her that she adores it and you!
The secret is to think about her for twice as long as you would spend browsing endless shops for gifts!
What's she into? what are her ambitions, aspirations, etc?
Then scale the ultimate gift down to something cheap that fits within your budget.
If you're strapped for cash short-term you can always allude to something better in the future.
For example, buy her the soundtrack and hint at taking her to the musical, or get the travel guide and slip in an IOU for next spring.
Creativity and a bit of romance will really help you out of a financial tight spot around her birthday or your anniversary.
Whatever you give her -- from a book, to an experience voucher, to a teddy bear -- make sure you wrap the thing properly and give it graciously.
- Make a good job or wrapping your gift. Use plenty of bows and ribbon and decent wrapping paper.
- Give it properly. Don't apologise first. Don't mention the gift's cost or be overly apologetic about it and don't say that the woman in the shop thought you would like it!
- Leave her in no doubt that you chose it and are giving it because you love her.
